The center of Manila is interspersed with Gated Villages, each with its own character, communities and amenities. Protected by their own security services and entry gates, these villages have become a haven for international teachers, businessmen, professionals and politicians.

Bel-Air Village

Conveniently located either side of Makati Avenue, Bel-Air is divided into 4 separate villages, Bel-Air I to IV, and is managed by one association. Bel-Air comprises individual residences and is therefore the perfect city center location for families or couples needing space. Bel-Air was proclaimed the Cleanest and Greenest Barangay for 8 consecutive years putting the village in Makati City's Clean and Green Hall of Fame.

The Bel-Air Community Center houses a clinic, a Post Office Extension, a fitness gym and two function rooms for the use of village residents in good standing. Gym membership is open to residents and their visitors with corresponding fees. There are two covered badminton/ basketball courts available to residents. Bel-Air offers free ambulance service through Lifeline. The Continuing Education Program for English Proficiency for household help, security and maintenance personnel is also offered in cooperation with the Department of Education and the Mapua Institute of Technology. Hotels in Bel-Air include City Garden Hotel, Bellagio and St Giles Hotel. There is an abundance of good restaurants in nearby Jupiter St, N Garcia St and Makati Ave, with Rockwell nearby and Greenbelt a short taxi ride away.

Dasmarinas Village

Dasmarinas is an exclusive gated community located in the heart of Metro Manila with serene tree-lined streets and a calm, safe, peaceful environment. The village's facilities include a post office, tennis courts, basketball courts, medical and dental clinics, nursery schools, a small fire department and 24/7 security guards patrolling the grounds and rigorously checking vehicle entry. Just outside the Village is the recently refurbished San Antonio Plaza, catering to a variety of needs with several shopsand services including a Rustan's grocery store, pharmacy, delicatessen and bank. Strategically located between the Makati Central Business District and the modern enclave of Bonifacio Global City, Dasmarinas Village enjoys the convenience of the malls and entertainment at Glorietta, SM Makati and Greenbelt, along with the High Street and Market Market at the Fort. Other attractions nearby include the Manila Polo Club, the Mind Museum and both St Lukes hospital and Makati Medical Center are just short car rides away.

Forbes Park

Forbes Park is an exclusive gated community in Makati with a quiet well-balanced environment that contrasts the cut and thrust of urban living just outside the gates. Established in the 1940s, Forbes Park was named after William Cameron Forbes, an American Governor-General of the Philippines. Mature trees line the streets and there is a real serenity enveloping the whole area. It is divided into Forbes Park North and Forbes Park South by McKinley Road. Strategically located between the Makati Central Business District and the burgeoning new developments at Bonifacio Global City, it is close to the iconic malls of Glorietta and Greenbelt which are peppered with exceptional eating establishments and branded outlets. One of the first villages to be developed by Ayala Corporation, Forbes Park is home to Manila Golf and Country Club and Manila Polo Club. It is also well known for housing some of the country's wealthiest families and prominent expatriates, including the ambassador of the United States, Japan, France, Spain, United Kingdom and Kuwait.

Magallanes

Barangay Magallanes is one of the most wealthy barangays in Makati, located in the southwestern tip of the City. It is the second smallest village barangay in Cluster 1 (or Central Makati) with a total land area of 1.2 square kilometers. The Central Makati Cluster also includes Bel-Air, Dasmarinas, Forbes Park, San Lorenzo and Urdaneta. Just over 5,000 residents inhabit Magallanes and the location provides easy access to the Central Business District due to its proximity to EDSA and South Expressway. Barangay Magallanes is bounded on the north by EDSA; Fort Bonifacio and Villamor on the south; Dasmarinas on the east; and Tripa de Gallina on the west facing Pasay City. Predominantly residential, almost half of the residents of the barangay are expatriate. Moreover, it is home to local and international schools such as Asia Pacific College, Singapore School Manila and Makati Hope Christian School.

Merville

Barangay Merville is a well maintained and secure gated village centrally located within well-known points of interest, namely Ninoy Aquino International Airport (with 2 alternate routes), the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), the Skyway, Alabang CBD, the future new CBD in Taguig - ARCA SOUTH by Ayala Land Inc., Resorts World Manila, SM Malls, Villamor, Navy & Manila Golf Clubs, Colegio San Agustin, Assumption College. Don Bosco Makati and is comjmuting distance from Makati CBD and Bonifacio Global City.

Merville is home to a large number of expatriate and Filipino families who seek a more sedate living environment. It lies along the boundary line of the cities of Paranaque and Pasay, on the Northeast part of Paranaque. It is bounded in the East by South Superhighway, in the West by Barangay Moonwalk and in the South by Barangay Sun Valley.

San Lorenzo Village

Located just off Arnaiz Avenue (Pasay Road) on the south side of Makati, San Lorenzo Village borders the immensely popular Glorietta, Landmark and Greenbelt shopping malls and entertainment complexes which are home to a wide variety of high quality restaurants, bars, branded retail outlets and movie theaters. It is also conveniently close to the international hotels in the area including the Shangri-la, Dusit, New World and the Fairmont. Little Tokyo is just across the road boasting some of Manila's finest Japanese restaurants. Houses in San Lorenzo are typically smaller than those in the upscale Dasmarinas and Forbes areas but compare favorably with Bel-Air and San Miguel Villages. Some houses have swimming pools and gardens, though most have smaller gardens without a pool.


There are a number of top schools in the area, including Assumption College, San Agustin, Don Bosco, Ateneo-Manila and Asia Pacific College. With the best hotels in the country, including the New World, Dusit, Oakwood, Intercontinental and Shangri-la Hotels, just a few minutes away the surrounding area is always full of life. However, as a gated village, San Lorenzo residents enjoy a peaceful and relaxed environment.

San Miguel Village

Close to Rockwell and bordering Bel-Air 2, San Miguel Village is just a few minutes away from the Makati CBD. A gated village comprising only houses it adds real character to the area and provides an ideal location for families. Powerplant Mall is a short cab ride away and Greenbelt and Glortietta Malls are only 10 minutes by taxi. There are numerous restaurants scattered in the vicinity of the village offering diverse cuisines from Western, Asian to local fare. A number of new developments such as A Venue have recently been added to the area to provide even more variety. Makati Science High School, Makati Elementary School, St. Paul College Makati and Ateneo Graduate Schools are near the village.

Urdaneta Village

Urdaneta Village is popular among expats as it is within the Central Business District of Makati and is surrounded by hotels, malls, apartments and other well known establishments. Inside the village, there's a large playground, a soccer field, outdoor basketball court and a large assembly hall. The residents are guarded 24/7 by a security station. Taxis are abundant in Urdaneta Village so getting around the city is not a problem.


The major malls are just walking distance from the village and include Greenbelt, Glorietta, SM, Landmark and Rustan's. Bars and restaurants are plentiful in the vicinity in particular at Greenbelt and Glorietta. A number of world class hotels are in the immediate vicinity including the Mandarin Oriental and the Peninsula Hotel with the Hotel Intercontinental, Ascott, Dusit Thani, New World and Shangri-la nearby.
